I've been wanting to do my version of Eve for ages so I started working on her a while ago and finally finished her. Personally, I'm very satisfied with the outcome especially since it's a full body drawing. Research was a big part of this piece as I wanted to dig deep in the origins of Eve and look into how she is related to ancient goddesses such as the Mother Goddess and Queen of all Deities Kheba or Hebbat. Eve(or Hawwah) means 'life' or 'source of life' so we could easily look at her as a Creator and Mother Goddess.
I also wanted to distance myself from the passive, disempowered and almost shameful way that Eve is usually portrayed by artists. Here she is standing proudly and unapologetically with no shame for her naked body holding the apple which, after all, is her symbol. She is powerful and in control of her destiny. No snake or devil tricked her into biting the apple, it was her conscious decision and thank God(no pun intended) that she bit it! Plus being the source of life, she wasn't created by anyone's rib. To me this is the true story of Eve.
The lyric I picked for this piece comes from Lana Del Rey's 'Gods and Monsters' just because I felt that there was some sort of connection between the song and my portrayal of Eve.
Hope you like her as much as I do!
