The Aftermath of a Murder by LunarisLarva
The Aftermath of a Murder
Hello there!

My first piece of 2015 is finally completed! The process of this was quite different since I didn't have a particular character in mind and she ended up telling me who she is as I was working on her. The model is my amazing friend and fellow artist, Alli Wynn. She's an amazing photographer and I will post a link to her facebook page below! So I was just playing around with colours and as I was moving deeper into it I was getting the feeling that something really violent had happened to her. Almost as if she had to kill someone in self-defense and then run away. Plus I loved the contrast between how soft her expression is and the blood all over her. The whole story intrigues me and I may have to write it down at some point!

I already have two more pieces sketched out and many more ideas in mind so 2015 should be a good year! This piece definitely feels like a good start!

Dissonance by LunarisLarva
Dissonance
Hey everyone!

With this drawing I didn't have a particular theme or character in mind. It was more of a study on composition and shading. I like the result and ended up learning a lot. When it comes to the reference, I used a friend of mine. Same person I had used in my Dionysos piece from early 2014 and I think I'll draw him again at some point in the future!

Enjoy!

Circe by LunarisLarva
Circe
Hey everyone!

It feels like I haven't posted in ages but I've been working this along with other pieces non stop. This is Circe, the powerful witch Goddess of the mythical island Aiaia. She was the daughter of Helios and Perseis(others claim her mother was Hekate, Goddess of witchcraft herself) and sister of Pasiphae, mother of the Minotaur. According to Homer, she lived in a mansion that stood in a clearing deep inside a forest. Around that mansion roamed lions, wolves and other animals who were actually men transformed by her magic. Circe also practiced necromancy and was skilled with herbs and potions.
Others may have heard of Circe by the time she spent with Odysseus. He stayed on her island for a year and some say she had a son with him named Telegonus.
Circe's stories are very interesting and I could never cover them in this description but you can easily find lots of reading material online and in books. I'm really happy with how this piece turned out!

Hope you like it too!

Eve by LunarisLarva
Eve
Hello there!

I've been wanting to do my version of Eve for ages so I started working on her a while ago and finally finished her. Personally, I'm very satisfied with the outcome especially since it's a full body drawing. Research was a big part of this piece as I wanted to dig deep in the origins of Eve and look into how she is related to ancient goddesses such as the Mother Goddess and Queen of all Deities Kheba or Hebbat. Eve(or Hawwah) means 'life' or 'source of life' so we could easily look at her as a Creator and Mother Goddess.
I also wanted to distance myself from the passive, disempowered and almost shameful way that Eve is usually portrayed by artists. Here she is standing proudly and unapologetically with no shame for her naked body holding the apple which, after all, is her symbol. She is powerful and in control of her destiny. No snake or devil tricked her into biting the apple, it was her conscious decision and thank God(no pun intended) that she bit it! Plus being the source of life, she wasn't created by anyone's rib. To me this is the true story of Eve.
The lyric I picked for this piece comes from Lana Del Rey's 'Gods and Monsters' just because I felt that there was some sort of connection between the song and my portrayal of Eve.

Hope you like her as much as I do!
